Computex, The conclusion #2

source: hardwarezone.com
Everything from Computex

ATP's Booth

Rock climbing? Sporty stuff? That doesn't really jive with Computex...or does it? We check out ATP's booth.

Once you get closer though, it starts making sense. Rugged and durable flashdrives and memory cards anyone?

Yet more demonstrations on the rugged theme of the ATP booth.

These ToughDrives are so tough, you could probably join the army with them.

But if the military is too rugged for you, then these Petite models may suit your glam factor just fine.

Do you part to save the planet with these fully recyclable, water and dust proof EarthDrive SD cards.

You called for speed? Have no fear, these water and dust proof 533x and 600x CF cards will blaze your way.

Aten's Booth

Aten makes Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) controllers, and we stopped by to see if they have anything new for the market.

The KA7176 does the usual KVM but with added USB and Audio.

The CubiQ CS1642 and CS1644 is a 2/4 port USB2.0 DVI dual-view KVMP switch.

The US421a is a 4 port USB 2.0 switch that allows you to easily share a device between four different machines.

Also new was this CS1308, an 8-port PS/2-USB KVM switch.

The KH1516i goes for broke with a 16-port Cat 5 KVM switch that also works over the internet.

Not to be left out, the CS1792 and CS1794 are a 2/4 port USB 2.0 and HDMI KVMP switch.

Avalue's Booth

Avalue's booth may look pretty ordinary, but they have products that are actually quite interesting.

What you see here is an Intel Atom equipped ECM-US15WP micro-module for in-car devices. Also has an optional touch screen interface to boot.

The ECM-945GSE uses the standard Intel Atom + 945GSE platform in a 3.5-inch form factor.

If more performance is what you need, then these fanless PCs will surprise you. The one on the right uses an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, while the one on the left, an Intel Atom, Celeron or Pentium processor.

Corsair's Booth

Corsair was on hand to show off its US$399 Obsidian 800 casing. Big, and lethal looking, this case feels ready to slay your opponents by itself.

Easily access your HDDs for hot swapping action with the Obsidian 800.

The Corsair Hydro Cooling H50 was an eye turner with its US$99 price point and its performance compared against a similarly price normal CPU cooler. The demo units recorded at least a 13 degrees difference at 100% load.

Last on the Corsair menu were these SSDs that we spotted lying around waiting for our cameras to snap.

Foxconn's Booth

The Foxconn Inferno Katana is a Intel P55 motherboard from Foxconn that's clad in a familiar red and black color scheme.

Here's a look at the rear panel and what you'll be getting with the motherboard.

A look at the socket that supports the new Intel Core i5 processors.

The Inferno Katana also comes with this enthusiast grade feature - the ability to tweak motherboard from these contact points.

This Foxconn board uses the latest AMD 785 chipset and features HD4200 onboard graphics.

A shot of the rear panel for your pleasure.

Kingston's Booth

Fancy a Kingston SSD? This baby packs 128GB of goodness and like all Kingston products, delivers the punch you need.

These SSDs are Intel SSDs repackaged by Kingston and will be sold mainly for enterprise level usage. The SSD you saw on the previous page is directed more at the normal consumer.

These Kingston flashdrives - the DataTraveler Hyper, DataTraveler Locker and the normal Kingston branding come with up to 32GB in capacity.

The Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000for blazing fast speeds.

Sure these three Kingston HyperX DDR3-1333 may not be as fast as those on the previous picture, but they come 4GB in size and a whopping 12GB for a tri-channel kit.

Also spotted were these low latency timing SODIMM modules, the Kingston HyperX DDR3-1066.

OCZ's Booth

What does OCZ have in store for the folks at Computex? It's time to find out!

First up is this aptly named Colossus, a 3.5-inch 1TB SSD. Yes, 1TB SSD in a 3.5-inch form factor. It's sure to be expensive, but let's not talk money here...

Craving for speed? The Vertex EX SSD is OCZ's answer to your problem.OCZ claims that this model is as fast as Intel's SSDs, but we'll wait for a review unit before drawing any conclusions, of course.

This DDR3-2133 module is one of the fastest available and can only be unlocked on really high end motherboards that support the Intel Core i7 Extreme processor.

The DIY Neutrino ION netbook is a "gaming" machine that requires you to get install your own memory and storage. Which means you should get a SSD if you can afford it.

The Silencer 910W from PC Power & Cooling, a subsidiary of OCZ, is an 80 PLUS Silver certified PSU. Nice.

The Z1000 is a 80 PLUS Gold certified PSU, and offers quiet performance for power users. Very nice.

The OCZ Sabre Multimedia Keyboard is a gaming keyboard that features programmable OLED keys on the left side.

SanDisk's Booth

Walking around, we stumbled upon the hard-to-miss SanDisk booth and proceeded to check them out.

On display was a wall of their memory cards and flashdrives.

SanDisk was also showing off their SSD drive pitted against four 10,000RPM Velociraptors running on RAID 0. As can be expected, the SSD was winning the race.

XFX's Booth

We can't complain too much on XFX's display methods for their products and seen here is their 850W PSU that's rated at 80 PLUS Silver.

Here's XFX's Overclocked Black Edition of the ATI Radeon HD 4890 with 1GB GDDR5.

Proudly presented here is the XFX ATI Radeon HD4770. Need we say more?

Miscellaneous Sightings

Why bother with wires and short USB cables when this Remote USB Hub from Azurewave easily allows you to link your USB peripherals wirelessly?

The Holux electronic Rubik's cube takes away the physical aspect of the cube, but at least you can easily reset it if you're stuck.

This digital photo frame from Lite-On features a built-in scanner allowing you to scan normal photos and display it straight away on the photo frame.

Well, if you can't get enough of Obama's speeches, then this Obama iPod dock from Ozaki should do the trick. Hug his plushy likeness while listening to his speeches and get really close to the US President.

If you have the space for it, then why not get the Photo Fast G-Monster-Promise PCIe SSD V2 that features 1000MB/s read and write speeds. Wow.

QStarz's GF-Q900 QFinder GPS BackTrack is a portable GPS device for folks that like to go adventuring. Besides GPS tracking, it also has a digital compass, temperature display and water resistance.

Nlighten's 9 panel wall display was remarkable due to its extremely thin bezel of the TVs used that lead to a viewing experience that's quite clear.

The difference between normal TFT LCD monitors and the LED backlit TFT LCD monitors are very clear when displayed as such. A shame the picture doesn't capture the difference.

This isn't actually a 3D TV or LCD monitor, rather it's a 3D signage from Vivitek that doesn't require the use of a 3D glasses to view the images. While it was fine for us, some folks may experience headaches when staring too long at the screen.

Also spotted at Vivitek's booth was the "world's biggest" e-paper. Cool, though we question the practicality.
